GDPR Compliance

A plain-language look at how BG Swaper (bgswaper.com) handles your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. This page is a summary - the Privacy Policy is the full authoritative document.

You have rights

You can access, correct, erase, or restrict your personal data whenever you need to.

Minimal data only

Just what you send through our contact or feedback form, plus the usual technical logs any server generates.

Images auto-deleted

Your image is gone from our servers the moment the processed result is sent back to you.

Data Controller

BG Swaper (operating at bgswaper.com) is the data controller for all personal data collected through this website and the background removal tool. That means we're the ones who decide what data is collected, why, and how it's handled.

There's no account to create, no payment to make, and no third-party API keys involved. The only personal data we receive is what you choose to send through our Contact form, our Feedback form, or what a standard browser session passes along automatically (covered in Section 02). For any privacy or data question, email support@bgswaper.com.

What we process

There isn't much. Here's every category of data BG Swaper actually processes:

  • Images you upload - photographs or graphics you submit to our background removal tool. Your image is processed transiently by our removal engine (which supports multiple AI modes and options) and is permanently deleted from our servers as soon as the processed result is returned to your browser. We never store, copy, or review your images beyond this momentary processing step.
  • Contact form submissions - when you reach out via our Contact page, we collect the name, email address, and message content you provide so we can respond to your enquiry.
  • Feedback form submissions - when you submit feedback about the tool, we collect the feedback text and any optional contact details you choose to include. This helps us improve background removal quality and user experience.
  • Technical & usage data - standard browser session data automatically generated when you visit any website, including IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and page interaction timestamps. This data is used solely to operate and secure the service.

No account credentials, payment information, or API keys are ever collected. Your uploaded images are never used to train machine-learning models, and they're never shared with any third party for any reason.

Lawful bases

Every time BG Swaper processes personal data, there's a lawful basis under Article 6 GDPR behind it. Given how limited our service is, only three bases come into play:

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) - transient processing of uploaded images to deliver the background removal result you requested; security monitoring and abuse prevention; and collection of anonymised usage statistics to improve the tool. We have carried out a balancing test and are satisfied that these interests do not override your fundamental rights, given the minimal and transient nature of the processing.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) - when you voluntarily submit our Contact or Feedback form, you provide the personal data freely and with the clear understanding that we will use it to respond to your message or improve the service. You may request deletion of this data at any time by contacting support@bgswaper.com. We also rely on consent for any non-essential cookies where applicable.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) - where we are required by applicable law to retain or disclose certain technical records (for example, in response to a lawful request from a supervisory authority or law enforcement agency).

Your rights (EEA / UK)

Based in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland? The GDPR (and its UK and Swiss equivalents) gives you a specific set of rights over your personal data:

  • Right of access - request a copy of any personal data we hold about you (e.g. a contact or feedback form submission).
  • Right to rectification - ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure - request deletion of your personal data where there is no overriding legal reason to retain it ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to restriction - ask us to pause processing of your data while a dispute or objection is resolved.
  • Right to data portability - receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format where processing is based on consent and carried out by automated means.
  • Right to object - object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to lodge a complaint - submit a complaint to the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence at any time.

Since there are no user accounts, most of what we hold is limited to contact and feedback form submissions, plus anonymised technical logs. To exercise any of these rights, use our Contact page or email support@bgswaper.com directly. Responses go out within 30 days - though complex requests can take up to 60 days more, and we'll let you know if that's the case. You may be asked to verify your identity first.

International transfers

If personal data is ever transferred to or processed by infrastructure outside the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, safeguards are confirmed before anything moves. Those safeguards include:

  • European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or, for transfers to the UK, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA);
  • Reliance on a valid adequacy decision issued by the European Commission or the UK Secretary of State recognising the destination country's level of data protection; or
  • Supplementary technical measures - including end-to-end encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, strict access controls, and pseudonymisation - applied where a transfer impact assessment identifies residual risk.

Because there are no accounts or payment flows, international transfers are limited to standard cloud hosting and analytics infrastructure. For a list of the specific sub-processors we use and the safeguards applied to each, email support@bgswaper.com.

Retention

Data isn't kept a day longer than it needs to be. Here's how long each category stays on our systems:

  • Uploaded images - deleted permanently and automatically from our servers the moment the background removal result is delivered to your browser. No copy is ever retained.
  • Contact form submissions - retained for up to 2 years from the date of submission to allow us to handle follow-up queries or regulatory enquiries, then securely deleted.
  • Feedback form submissions - retained for up to 2 years for product improvement analysis, then securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
  • Technical logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) - raw logs are retained for no longer than 30 days, after which they are aggregated or anonymised and are no longer traceable to any individual.

Once a retention period ends, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymised - there's no way to trace it back to anyone. If you'd like something deleted earlier, just email support@bgswaper.com.
